Toy Story 5 Teaser Sets The Beloved Duo Versus a Tablet Computer
It has been 30 years since the original Toy Story movie was released, launching the animation giant as a major animation studio and bringing viewers to iconic characters like Woody (the actor) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.
In 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 appeared this week, offering a glimpse into the plot but keeping viewers curious how it will address the ending of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Frightens the Gang
The preview shows the young girl — who received the toy collection when he left for college — getting a brand new toy, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. She gets her first tablet computer, and she is thrilled about it.
Presumably, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the toys seem to view it as a threat coming to replace them, which it likely will.
Woody's Return: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4
An element the trailer avoids is why Woody is returned with his companions in Bonnie's room. The end of Toy Story 4 saw him set off on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), traveling with a carnival and assisting giveaway items locate loving owners.
Surely, the filmmakers will explain the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Seeing him appear in Bonnie's room unexpectedly is a little strange, though. It also raises questions whether Bo Peep will have come back with him. And where is the stuntman toy (Keanu Reeves)?
Connections from the Last Installment
Fortunately, some aspects are carrying over from the prior film. The final act the cowboy did before departing for his fresh path was hand over his sheriff badge to Jessie (the voice actor), entrusting her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip shows the badge attached to her outfit.
Hopefully she is remains the driving force among the toys.
